Wivenhoe Port.

Wivenhoe Port in the 1980's. I think this boat was unloading soya meal, i worked on some of these boats, repairing the hold floors after they dropped the grab to hard on the bottom.

Wivenhoe memories collection.

Hi. I worked on JYTTE DANIA (Danish Flag) 05/1984-12/1984 and we started to transport grain & cereal flour from Rotterdam and Amsterdam to Wivenhow Port.
Many times; exp. during the summer of 84' we dropped anchor off Brightlingsea and waited for the tide & Pilot. If the vessel could manage 5 trips per month, the company could show a profit. We did between 9-11 and mostly due to the dockworkers who unloaded the 700-800 mt of bulk cargo (and without any stops e.g. rain).
We got on good terms with the nearest Pub Owner close to the quay - looking at the GoogleMaps I cannot find the Pub (just outside the gate). So, everything change - also Wivenhoe ;--))
